23,000 m² area, approx. 260 employees and a lot to do when it comes to preventive fire protection: Refratechnik Ceramics GmbH relies on TENADO PROTECT to work quickly and in accordance with standards.
Security on a grand scale
Refratechnik Ceramics GmbH is part of the global Refratechnik Group. It develops, produces and sells refractory materials for high-temperature processes. The specially manufactured refractory bricks are used in all major industries. Products manufactured there form the basis for cement, steel and glass production as well as for aluminum and ceramic products. The production facility near Melle has an area of around 23,000 m². Around 260 employees go about their daily work here. A facility of this magnitude requires careful fire safety planning to ensure the safety of all employees in the event of an emergency. The company has relied on TENADO PROTECT for the creation and modification of fire protection plans since 2017.
"TENADO PROTECT has changed a few things"
For the fire protection experts Frank Peters and Uwe Kühte, TENADO PROTECT is the first software solution that was specially developed for organizational fire protection and is used at Refratechnik Ceramics. “Among other things, I am responsible for the technical construction in our company,” reports Frank Peters. “For example, if one of our machines needs a new component, I draw it on the computer. The CAD program that I use for this was of course unsuitable for organizational fire protection. Nevertheless, we worked with it for some time to adapt the fire protection plans. That was pretty awkward. Switching to professional software has changed a lot.”
Revise as-built plans quickly and easily
According to Uwe Kühte, the collaboration with TENADO came about in a very classic way: “I take part in the VdS Fire Protection Days in Cologne every year. In the adjoining exhibition I got into conversation with TENADO employees. The description of the software made us curious, so we found out more. At that time we were just setting up a fire alarm system. TENADO PROTECT looked uncomplicated and seemed perfectly suited to our requirements. That’s why we decided to purchase it. In addition to the fire alarm system, we use the program to plan walking, escape and rescue routes and create the corresponding plans. If there are conversion measures, we also use the software, since most of the as-built plans are outdated.
Easy implementation
When asked which properties of TENADO PROTECT make his job particularly easy, Uwe Kühte has a clear answer: “The simple implementation! You can make changes very quickly, such as placing or changing characters. The library is also extensive and complete. There are regular updates with which we are always up to date and can work in accordance with standards.”
