Extensive traffic planning for a major project

The team around branch manager Marco Filon has never worked on a project like this before. The complete traffic safety of the construction site around the town hall tunnel in Lüdenscheid is in the hands of the experienced traffic planners. The renovation of the town hall tunnel in Lüdenscheid is a major project. The construction costs more than 12 million euros. Two tubes of the tunnel will be completely renovated, get new ceilings, lanes and new lighting and ventilation systems. This has consequences for various bus lines and for thousands of drivers who pass through the tunnel every day. To ensure that they still get to their destination, Marco Filon and his site managers designed and implemented a sophisticated traffic plan with TENADO TRAFFIC .

I've been doing traffic safety for 10 years and I've never realized a project of this size in an inner-city area." Marco Filon

The challenge: Good preparation and constant flexibility for a project phase lasting more than 24 months

Six different traffic lights, from the small system to the 27th group system, ensure that the detour routes run smoothly. They are planned as a single lane through the entire city area. An extra bus lane diverts local traffic, while a parallel lane for cars and trucks diverts drivers. The dimensions of the planning make the project special for the team. There were only a few days of preparation time to plan and mark the first bus lanes and alternative routes. Various conversions in the course of construction require constant rethinking and good preparation. More than 250 traffic signs, hundreds of barrier beacons and hundreds of meters of fence block roads, provide information and redirect people. The whole project is planned for 24 months, but a period of 30 to 36 months can already be foreseen.

With TENADO TRAFFIC, the team is prepared for anything

The site managers of the team, including Marcel Rimbach, created the entire concept with TENADO TRAFFIC .

Based on the city’s regular plans and planning specifications, they first drafted proposals that were submitted and implemented after approval. Maps from the Internet are often helpful. Site managers usually first look at districts on Google Maps. Using the map as a template, draw a plan line by line. Photos can also be imported into the program as a basis. Barriers and street signs are then drawn on these plans.

“Every road is different, so the construction sites are different too. Every plan is a new challenge.”Marcel Rimbach

Marcel Rimbach can find traffic signs quickly and easily in TENADO TRAFFIC . He searches the library using the search function and does not necessarily have to enter the exact number of the traffic sign, but can work with terms. TENADO TRAFFIC issues the appropriate sign immediately.
